Travelling With Your Bird
If you plan on taking your feathered friend on holidays with you, moving house or even a short trip to the vet then here's some tips on how to travel safely with your bird.
Cage Hygiene
It is essential to keep a bird's environment as clean as possible. The entire cage should be scrubbed down at least once weekly with detergent and hot water plus a good disinfectant. Food and water dishes should be cleaned daily in the same fashion.
Caring For Your Bird Caring For Your Bird
Once you have taken your bird home, you become fully responsible for its care and well-being. It is not good enough to just put them in a cage with some seed and water, and hope for the best.
Housing Small Birds
Tips on choosing the right home for your budgie, canary, cockatiel, lovebird or other small bird.
Housing Large Birds
Large birds, such as cockatoos, African Greys and Amazon Parrots have special housing requirements. The size of the cage, type of perch and accessories for the cage are important.
Keeping a Budgerigar
Having the right cage and food will keep your budgie happy and healthy.
Toys For Birds
Birds get bored, too. Provide your bird with mental stimulation by choosing some toys especially designed to keep birds active and amused.
Housing Back Yard Poultry
Chickens make wonderful pets and unlike dogs and cats, you can eat their produce! If you’re considering getting a few chooks (as they are know affectionately in Australia) for your back yard you need to know how to make a chicken friendly chook house.
