Veterinary Nurse

What is your role?

Veterinary Nurse

When did you start working at MVG?

I began in October 2017 as a TAFE student. In October 2018 I was offered a casual position.

What are your qualifications and when did you achieve them?

  • Cert II – Animal Care – 2017
  • Cert IV – Veterinary Nursing – 2019

What are some of the things you love about the veterinary industry?

I have a love, passion and drive to care for animals.  Not only myself,  but also all the staff here at MVG  share one goal –  to make a difference to animals and their families.

Fur babies mean many different things to people, for some they are their children, companion, medical alert, but for all they are a part of their family, so to assist in the best possible outcome for them is very rewarding. Sometimes the outcome can be a tough decision so to be there emotionally to help the family through these times is also equally important.

Becoming a Veterinary Nurse has been a dream of mine for over 40 years, I never thought I would actually achieve this, so to have been given the opportunity every day I am working at MVG motivates and reminds me just how lucky I am and that dreams can come true.

My work colleagues are all amazing, caring and extremely supportive people who are always teaching and encouraging me to be my best, with this support it is very easy to come to work each day.

MVG is a great place to work because…

Of the team and the partners of the business being so supportive.  Being quite a late starter to the industry, they looked past my age and saw my passion/love for animals and gave me the opportunity of a lifetime to fulfil my dream of becoming a vet nurse.  The entire team at MVG are not only incredible people but also extremely supportive.

Description of your pets/spouse/family

Married with 3 adult children, one married, one engaged and the other enjoying life. We have a very spoilt Staffy named Jazzy. She loves being anywhere we are and lots of love and attention.

One interesting fact about you that no one knows!

My hubby flew me half way around the world to the UK and proposed in the dugout on the half way line at Anfield – Liverpool FC’s home ground (our favourite soccer team) and naturally I said “Yes”!
