When did you start working at MVG?
I commenced here in 2020.
What are your qualifications and when did you achieve them?
I completed Cert II Animal Studies in 2004. I then went on to become a wildlife carer whilst starting my vet nursing career. I have been a veterinary nurse for 16 years before starting at MVG. Whilst working as head vet nurse at my last clinic I completed Certificate IV in veterinary nursing 2010.
Some of the courses I completed during being a volunteer with wires are…
- Rescue and immediate care
- Wires rescue, rehabilitation and release of birds
- Birds beyond the basics
- Reptile and amphibian rescue rehabilitation and release
- Possum & Glider juvenile to adult rescue rehabilitation and release
I also completed a rescue and rehabilitation course with Australian sea bird rescue as I have a love for pelicans!
During this time I also completed a course in Animal Behaviour and Canine Psychology. For 8 years I ran my own puppy preschool business and loved every minute!!!
I also worked at the RSPCA and spent part of my time there being the ambulance driver.
What are some of the things you love about the veterinary industry?
I love working in this industry because I get to be a part of helping people help their animals.
Description of your pets / spouse / family
I have a 7yo Aussie Bulldog called Willow, a 7yo 1.6kg chihuahua called Major and an 11 yr old cat called Helmet who had to be cut out from a wall after he accidentally dropped down a wall cavity when he was with his siblings after being born as a stray in a roof of someone’s house. He was the only one from the litter that found himself stuck ! I fostered kittens while at the RSPCE and fell in love with him… his name is Helmet.
I am a mother of 2 beautiful girls and have an amazing husband.
One interesting fact about you that no one knows!
Not many people know, but I can actually juggle and my favourite animal is the Galapagos Tortoise!
