Marianna

Veterinary Nurse
What is your role here?
I am a Veterinary Nurse predominately based at the Gregory Hills clinic.
When did you start working at MVG?
I began volunteering in February 2018 and was offered a position in July 2018.
What are your qualifications and when did you achieve them?
I completed my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2018. I have also completed courses in Wildlife Welfare & Rehabilitation and Stray Kitten Rescue.
What are some of the things you love about the veterinary industry?
I absolutely love being a part of an industry that helps animals live their fullest lives. I most enjoy pathology, radiology and nutrition. No day is ever the same and I live for that.
I am also passionate about wildlife care. I have assisted in the rehabilitation of a variety of natives such as the tawny frogmouth, blue tongue lizards, eastern long-neck turtles, wombats, wallabies and the occasional koala.
MVG is a great place to work because…
We strive towards providing the best possible healthcare to all patients and I am very proud to be a part of that. I am also very lucky to call my co-workers my friends – not everyone can say that about their colleagues.
Description of your pets/spouse/family
I live in Camden with my two black domestic medium hair cats named Phoebe (pictured) and Cody. Pheebs and Codes were neonatal litter mates found in the fire zone during the 2019 bushfires. They were brought to the clinic as strays. I bottle raised them both and decided to keep them as my own. In my spare time, I work closely with rescue groups in Sydney to help reduce the feral cat population through adoption programs. I am originally from Jersey, UK where my family are based.
One interesting face about you that no one knows!
I moved to Australia in 2015, after breaking my leg skiing in New Zealand. I was not able to continue my hobby of long distance running, so i took up sky diving instead. I am now a qualified sky diver!
